Duredon Farm
at the heart of the historic Exmoor Forest
The House
Duredon was built in the proportions and on the footprint of a previous house, one of several farmhouses around Simonsbath, built by the estate’s former owner, the pioneering nineteenth century farming entrepreneur, John Knight.
Completed in late 2022, the architecture and interior design was commended in the Georgian Group Awards 2022 (Giles Worsley award for a new building in the spirit of the Georgian age).
The main house has 6 luxurious and very comfortable en-suite bedrooms, with a further 3 bedrooms in the renovated stables across the courtyard. Each guest room is individually decorated; some have four-poster beds, and all have deep baths, good showers and plenty of hot water. The ground floor consists of a series of rooms perfect for entertaining guests with marvellous views out over the moors and River Barle valley.
the Estate
Duredon is situated at the heart of the Exmoor Forest Estate, a traditional country estate and organic farm with interesting historic connections as a former Royal hunting chase until 1818. The dramatic rugged scenery of the Exmoor Forest and the North Devon coast are all on the doorstep and offer some of the best walking, shooting, riding, biking and wild swimming in the South West. World class shoots such as Buttery, Challacombe and North Molton are all within a 10-15 minute drive.
Our sister business in Simonsbath, The Exmoor Forest Inn, is known for its delicious food and drink, including organic beef, lamb and venison from our hill farm. We are also able to supply details of local private chefs on request.
The house and estate are the perfect locations for both film and photographic shoots and we have experience of working with top producers, directors, photographers and stylists to realise their projects successfully. We can provide a diverse selection of landscapes and properties on the estate.
